OUR AIM |
It is
our aim to educate and inform all members of the public in the UK on the
correct and proper use of the 999 system.
|
Use It... |
...don't ABUSE it! You will receive an
emergency vehicle with a fully qualified member of staff to help deal
with your emergency. If you abuse the 999 system, you could put other
lives at risk and deprive someone who really needs us of emergence
assistance.

AMBULANCE |
-
Before you phone, make a note of
the location and telephone number you are
calling from.
-
The first person you speak to
will be the Emergency Services operator who will
ask you which Emergency Service you require.
-
Try to remain calm and speak
clearly. The slower you speak the less chance
there will be of a mistake.
-
The Emergency Services operator
will put you through to the required service.
-
You will be asked to provide
details of the location and telephone number.
This will be used if the telephone call is
disconnected and we need to contact you.
-
You will then be asked for the
nature of the incident eg: Road Accident, how
many casualties are involved and the general
nature of the injuries.
-
Do NOT hang up
until you are told to do so
-
You should note that an ambulance
will be dispatched as soon as we have the
relevant information
-
If somebody is
seriously injured or very ill, the ambulance
controller will offer to assist you in giving
first aid until the ambulance arrives.
REMEMBER
- Don't panic,
keep a look out for the ambulance as the address
or location may not be obvious
- If you are at
home and it is dark, then put some lights on so
that the house can be seen.
